Architecture and Engineering
The people modeling their buildings on Greek and Roman ruins. Used a lot of rounded arches, straight columns and domed roofs. They learned from Filippo Brunelleschi that math was evolved in creating buildings. Brunelleschi invented mechaines called hoists to raise building materials and to building workers and to the top of the dome of Duomo Di Santa Maria Del Fiore; this structure still stands today.
Architects added their own ideas to Greek and Roman ruins. Wealthy families built their own town houses. Many had shops on the ground floors and homes above. Public spaces were influenced by humanist ideals. For example humanists valued good citizenship so they designed public buildings where citizens could interact in settings that were grand yet welcoming. They used Roman inspired roofs called loggias.
